In 1972, J. Vincent McPhillips and Edward L. Lieland Jr. founded the firm that is today McPhillips, Roberts and Deans. Both had begun their accounting careers in the 1950’s with one of Norfolk’s oldest and most respected CPA firms – Hilton, Sheffield and Hilton. The senior Hilton in the firm is widely considered to be one of the groundbreakers of the CPA industry in Virginia, and held the second CPA certificate issued in the state of Virginia.
In 1986, McPhillips, Roberts and Deans found their ideal location – 150 Boush Street. With room to expand and stunning views of the community they serve every day, Town Point Center was a perfect fit.
Through mergers and the welcome addition of new partners, one thing has remained constant. MRD has continued its commitment to building and sustaining relationships with clients. Many of the firm’s clients have been with them for decades.
As we continue to grow, we never miss an opportunity to look back with gratitude to our mentors and friends who have made our history so wonderful and our future so bright.
